TEAM NEWS!!
29th October 2009
Stocksbridge leisure centre was the venue for this weekend's tournament hosted by the Sheffield Speeders. For some of the dogs this was not only their first time in open competition, but also first time on matting and indoors! So it was a tense time for most, especially me who had put so much faith in the new team Notts Supasonics. Although they'd been doing so well in training it was alot to ask expecting them to run paw perfect in such alien conditions.
As the team did their run backs and a team run Martyn and I swelled with pride, it looked as though the whole team had been competing for years! The handlers have all put so much work into training thier dogs ready for this day and it showed. They were entered on a declared time of 23.00 seconds, which put them in Division 4. It was evident in the last couple of training sessions though that the team had improved so much since the time was declared, and the likelihood was that they would break out. They didn't mind though, the handlers were keen to see what thier dogs could really do and went for it, gaining a fantastic seed time of 21.98 seconds!
Well done Alan and Jay jay for such a fantastic performance on your first ever open competition, and also to Janine, who has put so much time and effort into training Ellie, who has had a bumpy start. It was brilliant to see her do every leg without running out once! It was great to welcome back Ellie and Sito back from Kiveton, and along with Rowan made up the Notts Supasonics team.
The Supadogs did fairly well with their 4th place in Division 1, a last minute change of order in the dogs proved to be challenging, and more work is definatley needed. This team have a lot more to give and we will be focusing hard on changeovers in the next few training sessions.
As the nights are drawing in training has been moved to weekends from now until further notice. Please contact me for details for each week's training session day's and times should you wish to come along and watch, or even have a go! The next training session will be Saturday 24th October.
The Supadogs and Puppidogs teams were at Rotherham this Sunday for the first of the winter season's tournaments.
The Supadogs were very disappointing and failed to make their mark on the opposition, with some early changeover lights and very late changeovers, the team just didn't seem to be able to get it together this week, and came a very poor 5th place. Much more work is needed if the team is to make an impression next week at Sheffield.
In direct contrast however the Puppidogs did a marvelous job, and looked a great team! The usual team of Jay Jay, Milo and Tarn were joined by Lady, a newcomer to the club who ran her little paws off to help the team gain 2nd place!! Well done to all of you!
Next Sunday the team will be at Stocksbridge, Sheffield and this will be the debut of the new team Notts Supasonics who've trained very hard over the last few weeks and deserve the very best of luck for thier first competition, particularly Jay Jay and Alan, who will be in open for the very first time!! I'm sure they will do the team proud, and indeed make me, the captain even more so.
A big welcome to our latest recruit Caz Elliott Marsh and her son Conner with thier two dogs Jet and Lady. Martyn and I extend you a warm welcome and sincerely hope you enjoy your new hobby!!
Well Done to Anita and Chip on receiving your silver award. A fantastic achievement!!
And finally, during training this week we had a visit from the local newspaper, the Worksop Guardian, who was doing a feature on superstar pets. So look out for the article in the paper or on their website www.worksopguardian.co.uk

The Last few weeks have seen a few exciting changes within the Notts Supadogs club.
We have a brand new team training hard to make their debut at Stocksbridge Leisure centre, Sheffield. The new team has been registered as Notts Supasonics, and will consist of the following dogs:
Jay Jay - who after only a few weeks of trianing has proved himself to be a reliable member of the team and has secured his place as start dog for the Supasonics.Handled by Alan.
Rowan - at ten years old he's still a formidable dog with speed and reliability has taken his place as second dog in the new line up. Handled by Janine.
Ellie - is coming back to us from being on loan to Kiveton Katapultz who had her in a team with a height dog, as part of her rehabilitation after a hamstring injury. After 6 months of re training her to jump higher jump She is now fully fit and performing better than ever. Ellie takes the place of third dog. Handled by Helen
Sito - Again, his time at Kiveton has drawn to an end having gone there to run in a team with a height dog to keep him racing and fit, yet not put too much strain on his throat and lungs having had throat surgery back in August last year. He has been diagnosed with a partially paralysed larynx, but is now fighting fit and takes his place as anchor dog for the Supasonics. Handled by Jayden
Ellie - Although training since February, Ellie has only managed a few runs in Open competition, and after some intensive training over the last couple of months is looking very promising. Ellie will begin her open career as the substitute dog, with a view to becomming a permanent member of the team and the height dog, when she proves herself to be fully reliable. Handled by Janine
We are all very excited about the new team and all wish the handlers and dogs every success in thier future racing.
As the nights are drawing in training has been abandoned on Wednesday nights in favour for Sundays, providing we are not at a tournament. It will be Saturdays when the teams are competing.
At training this week it was lovely to see a few new faces joining in the fun! Details will follow soon on those new members, and posted here.

The team had a successful time at the Rotherham tournament hosted by Tyne Tailwaggers. Our Supadogs came 2nd in their division, with some fantastic close racing and exciting finishes which had to be decided by the clock and only loosing to Tyne all day. Thank you Janine for coming to support the team and do our line and Ryan for being “Mr Motivator” and revving the dogs up, even though your own dog was unable to compete this weekend.
Notts Puppidogs were joined by Lou and Bob with their owners, from Kiveton Katapultz and came a very respectful third. All of our starter dogs did well, posting some excellent times for a novice team. Tarn is showing great potential with a fantastic turn on the box and a speedy return he’s showing great promise. Kim, who unfortunately was relegated to starters partly due to a lack of team members in the Powadogs, but also for re-training, is coming on well, and has progressed from being an anchor dog to a very good all rounder. She is now running well in both lanes. In time she will be back in open and re starting her flyball career with some new team mates.
Martyn and I would like to warmly welcome our new members Hannah Marshall with her Collie Taunie, and Diesel an American Bulldog, and Hannah Bacon and Alan Shepperson with their dogs Jay-jay, Milo and Trinny. We hope you will all have a long and happy flyball career with us. Visit our Meet the dogs page to find out more about our newest members.

As the Supadogs celebrated their first year as a club, they took the long trip to Southam for the British Flyball Championships 2009. They were seeded 6th in Div 8 (out of 32) and up against their old friends Steelers and Alpha dogs as well as High Flyers, Dolphins and Bristol Ballistics Rockets.
It was always going to be a difficult day racing with against some fantastic teams, but we were determined to show 'em what we were made of! By the end of the morning's racing we had done extremely well and won all three of our races, clocking some good times too. In the afternoon we were faced with the High Flyers, whom were proving to be faster then us, but we still had a chance of beating, provided we kept our nerve and kept those lights switched OFF! At 2 all, it came down to the last leg, but sadly we just couldn't beat them, a well fought battle won deservedly by the Flyers (great racing guys, Thanks!!) Another loss against Dolphins put us Third overall, and we were delighted!
Division One gave us much food for thought, watching the best of the best in action was a great experience. Hopefully we've picked up one or two tips from the top to improve our game!
Well done to Basset Hotdogs for becoming 2009 British Champions.
Notts Supadogs will be holding some Starter courses very soon (details to be announced) To register your interest, or for more information then please contact me via email at

Well done to the Supadogs on their first place in Division One at Newark this weekend!! The team have come a long way in the last two months, with sub 19 sec times and a first place in Division One! The hard work in training and the fact that all the dogs and handlers work excxeptionally well together really shows in their racing. The team are now training hard and very much looking forward to the British Championships next month.
The Powadogs started the day at Newark with their usual line up, with Murphy on the sheet to "give him a go and see". As Daisy seemed to be struggling I decided to bring Murphy in earlier then planned, to see what he'd do, and.... He did it like a seasoned proffesional! Well done Dave, and Murphy, looks like you managed to avoid starters!! So, the line up for the Championships looks promising for the Powadogs, who have steadily improved all year, and have certainly come a long way from that first team who appeared at Newark back in November 2008!
After the success of our first Tournament co-hosted with Kiveton, we have teamed up again and booked two dates for next year. This time we have a new venue, offering superb facilities for all competitors. Dinninington Rugby club is extremely spacious, and has the added benefits of the club house, including toilets, showers, food and of course a licensed bar!
Training is now on Wednesday evenings from 6.00pm.
